
Airline cabin crews are experts in hydration. The trick that they taught me was to hydrate with an equal mixture of fruit juice and water. As I researched this idea further I encountered the idea of 'short path' throught the body and 'long path'. Apparently, water goes through the body in the short path - that is directly through the digestive system. This means that some of its hydrating power is lost. A mixture of fruit juice and water, on the other hand, goes through the body 'long path' - it travels all through the circulatory system and flesh - and so is more hydrating.
